Artist Statement
I believe art is not meant to last forever and that it only remains in time for a fleeting moment. My street art sculpture/relief murals are created on to the base of boarded up buildings, construction sites, and other temporary architectural structures. I arrange ordinary wooden shapes collected from alleys, garbage cans, and individuals and strategically attach them to the wooden Barricades. Building on and taking from the streets guarantees each installation a site specific purpose in its environment. Forcing interaction and allowing individuals to interact with the space around them. Each installation is spontaneously built on site to insure its uniqueness and to create smiles on passer byers. My names is Charles Lewis Schriver and I strive to have active engagement and interaction with the people of my community. The world.
