TongLau Space Residency

The Tong Lau residency was my first of five residencies in six years. To this day I can still imagine the beautiful scents of fresh flowers greeting me every morning as I leave the flat on flower market road to head to my studio. It was a 25 minute train ride to the 29 story building. My studio was on the roof top, with views to inspire for years. The elevator ride up 29 stories was always a fun experience.

The canvas of Hong Kong and I had an interesting conversation. As I got to know the city and its people more, the more sculptures I added to the communities. Ma Wan was a fascinating island with an abandoned village. Three of my sculptures found a home here, while the security guard slept. The residency was exactly what I needed when I was ready to hear the magical sounds of HK. Thank you Noelle and all the wonderful artists you introduced me to..
